Wearable Art

Dearest Followers,
I’ve created a line of wearable art pieces for the simple reason that it’s great to wear art! These are little tributes to nature; they come from the same inspiration as my big pieces. Some are abstract, reflecting the building blocks of nature, while others are representations of animals etcetera. Some are big and chunky, others are more streamlined.

These are individual pieces of art, which come signed and labelled on the back. I want them to be recognisable Marrs, with all the obvious earth tones and style.

I get the same sense of satisfaction and fun from creating these pieces as I do my large works and I hope you enjoy them too.

Kindest regards
Scott

A hint of what's to come!

It’s with great pleasure that I introduce my new range of prints. I’ve wanted to make prints for some time but I’ve always felt restricted by issues of quality.

Now I’ve teamed up with Katoomba Fine Art and Fine Art Imaging, to bring out these top quality digital prints. When I inspected the trial run I actually pointed to one of the prints, thinking it was the original. After the initial embarrassment, I felt really good about this mistake – it meant the prints had truly captured all the minute details that are so important to my work.

I hope you enjoy the selection of prints we’ve provided. http://bit.ly/rnFkGd

Also some time-lapse videos of me in the studio, please dont forget to hit the like button!

"Pyrography"

It is my great pleasure to present an amazing project that I have been so luckily been a part of for the last eight months. I was commissioned to do all the art work for Osunlade's new album "Pyrography"
The two covers for the album are my interpretations of the artist himself and the rest of the album are again my interpretations with the ever present guidance of Osunlade of 13 deities or orishas, beings/Gods of Yoruba . Each Orisha is accompanied for the very first time with written Orikis/Prayers. This is the spiritual practice that Osunlade has chosen. It has been an amazing journey for me as it resulted in me touring with Osunlade all through Europe. Osunlade painstakingly organised for the originals to be toured as well as producing this incredible hard cover book/album for his fans and anyone else who wants to share in what I think is an amazing musical visual experience!
If you're interested in a copy please follow this link!

It's also exciting to see how well the originals reproduce in this publication!

Back from Europe!

Hello I just wanted to let you know my five week tour of Europe with Osunlade was just beyond words, I have now seen art, cities, cultures and tasted food, that I have only ever read about and saw in books, my heart is full and my inspiration from this journey will keep me busy for a long long time!
This is my first piece since getting back a week ago, in Paris I stayed in this amazing little apartment in Rue Saint Denis, after days of seeing the masters in all the great museums and galleries I woke up one morning with the daunting idea, why I was not working on canvas! I spent the rest of the trip with this on my mind!
This was reinforced when some people asked me how long do natural pigments last, I was in the fortunate position to be one hundred metres away from 700 hundred year old frescos, out side of an even older castle! I pointed down the street and informed them that they will find 700 year old pigments that way, faded sure but still very much there, Anyone who asked about longevity of natural pigments just about anywhere in Europe, there was somewhere within the same town with natural pigments hundreds of years old, whether it be on canvas, fresco, sculpture, textiles jewellery to name a few, just mind blowing!
One can still ask, yes but how long do my pigments last for? I like to think the pigments I process will last 700 years but I will just have to wait and see, then I will let you know! Its amazing how quickly we adjust to new technology and scary how it is even quicker for us to lose the skills we had before hand! Skills I now believe were more spiritually intact than we realised, for the simple fact they were deeply rooted within our use of natures gifts!
I am truly grateful!
